Our Team

The mission of the A&M Christian Counseling Center is to provide professional psychotherapy within a Christ-centered framework. We anchor our therapeutic approach in the Christian worldview that the Bible provides the principles and truths that help us thrive. We believe that God wants to restore every part of our lives, including our relationships. Our purpose is to help people come to know the life God intended for us.

Shaun Burrow received his Ph.D. in family therapy from Texas Woman’s University. He earned his master’s degree in marriage & family therapy along with his bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.

Shaun is licensed in the state of Texas as a marriage & family therapist supervisor as well as a licensed professional counselor.

Laura Bauer

Laura received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Arkansas – Little Rock and her bachelor’s degree in health sciences from Texas A&M University. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Texas and is licensed to practice in Texas (#68669).

Laura enjoys working with both couples and individuals. Her interests include depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, adjustment phase of life issues, addiction and family members impacted by addiction, spirituality and family members coping with special needs. Laura is passionate about assisting couples to thrive in their marriage rather than simply survive.

Her therapy approach is client-driven and based on specified goals given by the client. Laura enjoys using cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing.

Zach Bradford

Zach received his bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Abilene Christian University in 2016. He served as a student pastor for the next four years while finishing his master’s degree and transitioning to therapy. During those four years in ministry, he developed relationships with students and families walking through various life circumstances.

Zach has always had a heart for students and families. He enjoys working with them to repair broken bridges of communication. Families are awesome, but every family member experiences things in a unique way. This can be chaotic, or it can be reframed to reflect the beauty of God’s creation.

Zach also enjoys working with couples, especially couples that are engaged and looking forward to building a life together. He is certified as a Prepare/Enrich facilitator and enjoys the energy that couples bring to the counseling room. Zach is licensed in Texas as a marriage and family therapist supervisor (#203833) and as a licensed professional counselor (#84828).

Emily Burrow

Emily Burrow received her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Abilene Christian University and her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. She is licensed to practice in the state of Texas.

Emily has a heart for working with individuals, couples and families. She enjoys working with elementary-aged children and adolescents and supporting their parents and families. Emily practices a strategic family systems approach and examines how a child’s behavior functions to communicate something about the system they live in. She collaborates with parents to help them learn to “speak kid” so they can look beyond the behavior’s symptoms to discern the motivating force that drives it.

Joshua Cooper received his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University and his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. He is board-certified and licensed to practice in Texas as a Marriage and Family Therapist (#203307) and as a Professional Counselor (#80557). Additionally, he is an IASIS Certified Practitioner providing Micro Current Neurofeedback (MCN).

Joshua enjoys working with families, couples and individuals. His special interests include marital and couple issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment/phase of life issues, sexual issues, spirituality, and wellness. He’s passionate about working with couples and individuals experiencing relational issues.

As an IASIS Certified Practitioner, he utilizes Micro Current Neurofeedback to help people break free of dysfunctional patterns. This innovative technology works by taping into the brain’s ability to self-regulate and heal. This approach offers an alternative to medication-based treatments, focusing instead on restoring balance to the nervous system and addressing root issues rather than just managing symptoms.

Joshua approaches counseling holistically, encompassing mental, physical, social, environmental, and spiritual elements. He views counseling as a secure space where the client can feel accepted and work together with the therapist to reach a place of hope and well-being.

As a retired Air Force veteran with 20 years of service, Shawn gained firsthand insight into the special challenges faced by our nation’s service members.

His combination of faith, knowledge, experience and education allows him to help others explore, understand and communicate the web of thoughts and feelings that drives both our beneficial and harmful decisions and actions. Whitney Nicholson

Whitney’s educational background includes a master’s degree in professional counseling from Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Texas (#76655).

Whitney’s greatest passion is bringing healing to women who have experienced trauma, whether that be sexual abuse, betrayal of a spouse, grieving a lost loved one or complex family of origin trauma. She enjoys helping women find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships to be empowered, reclaim their voices and identities, and find safety and peace wherever they are on their healing journey.

Whitney has been trained in a range of therapeutic techniques, including EMDR, IFS, art therapy, shadow work and theraplay. She operates from a creative, empathetic and genuine standpoint utilizing cognitive behavioral, attachment and family systems theories, as well as other integrative modalities as needed.

Kyle is trained to work with individuals, couples and families. He enjoys working with families that experience conflict or disengagement with their adolescent children. He works extensively with individuals dealing with the difficulties associated with breakups, separation or divorce. Kyle enjoys working with couples caught in old patterns that lead to recurring conflict.

Willie Williams

Willie is a licensed professional counselor licensed to practice in Texas (#65694). Willie received his master’s degree in arts and religion with an emphasis in counseling from Harding University in Memphis, Tennessee. He received his bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Harding University. He completed his LPC internship at Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce, Texas.

He has been in counseling and psychology for over 40 years as the director of counseling for Southwestern Christian College, a therapist for the East Arkansas Regional Mental Health Center, a counselor for Blinn College, a hospice chaplain and a certified Texas schoolteacher.

Willie’s motto is “Our world is only as strong as our families.”

His mode of therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy, but he is familiar with and utilizes other therapy models. His concentration is individual and marriage counseling. Depression, anxiety, bipolar, and grief are a few of the areas he specializes in. He accelerates performance by maximizing strengths and neutralizing weaknesses.

Dr. Scout Savoy received his doctorate in Educational Psychology with a Concentration in School Psychology from Mississippi State University. He completed his APA-Accredited doctoral internship at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD where he provided assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation services to students, teachers, and parents across grade levels (PK-12). Dr. Savoy is currently a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist and is supervised by Dr. Jason Hindman (#35187). Dr. Savoy is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (#72587) and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist.

Currently, Dr. Savoy provides counseling services to children, adolescents, college students, and parents. His clinical interests include autism, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, Dr. Savoy provides evidence-based parenting strategies to help parents manage behavior at home.
